Monthly Guided Ecotherapeutic Nature Walk
March 27 @ 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm
Take the Green Pill: Come join us in a monthly guided positive ecotherapeutic walk where we gain self-knowledge, wellbeing and personal growth with nature as our mentor.
Our March theme is focused on Biophilia: The innate human instinct to connect with nature and other living beings.
This guided group ecotherapeutic nature experience is a simple 1.5-hour walk focusing on positive nature therapy.
The aim of our guided ecotherapeutic walks is to support your mental health and wellbeing, as well as promote creativity, problem solving and personal development through its process.
Being with others in nature enhances our joy and shared experiences of awe.
We will also practice cognitive skills, such as focused attention, intentional mind wandering and open fascination through nature connection. These important skills address digital fatigue, enables attention restoration, promotes relaxation and helps with nurturing your imagination.
Each guided walk will focus on a core concept or principle of positive ecotherapy.
You will learn and use different ecotherapeutic exercises that you can then practice anywhere on your own. These goal oriented exercises are designed to increase your own knowledge and skills in positive ecotherapy.
You will also have an opportunity to create nature appreciation journal entries to record the exercises and your experiences covered during the walk.
We will meet at the specified location – please be on time, if not early.
You’ll have a chance to meet and greet, make introductions and we’ll answer any questions you might have.
After a short safety meeting and exploration of the ethics of ecotherapy, we will start our nature walk.
As we walk, you will learn about the pathways to biophilia and the activities we will be covering. We will be stopping in various places along our walk so you can complete each activity and record them in your nature appreciation journal.
At the end of our walk and before parting, you will be able share your experiences from the activities. You will also have the opportunity to share what you recorded in your nature appreciation journal if you choose.
For those interested, there will also be an option to head to a coffee shop afterwards where we can socialize and have more conversations about what you learned and experienced!
